Learn how to make healthy protein balls for your family. These protein balls are packed with nutrition for a healthy, yummy treat.
Whenever I make these the kids always get super excited. They are always asking for the “cookie balls”. I feel as if I’m tricking them because I wouldn’t consider these a cookie but they certainly think of them that way.
These healthy protein balls are easy to make and super quick! In fact, they could be made even quicker if you made them into bars instead of balls. I prefer the balls for my family because the kids love to help roll them into balls.
Can Kids Make These?

What You Need to Make These Protein Balls
- Oats – I use Old Fashioned Oats but you could also use quick oats.
- Peanut Butter – Or nut butter of your choice
- Chocolate chips – I use semi sweet
- Honey
- Chia Seeds
- Ground flaxseed
- Collagen – I get my collagen powder from Trim Healthy Mama. You could also use a whey protein powder
Can You Eat These During Pregnancy?
Absolutely! Assuming there are no allergies, and you don’t have other instructions from your doctor; these are safe to eat during pregnancy. I personally like these because they are easy and quick to make which is an absolute essential part when you’re pregnant and you don’t feel life cooking. Plus, they give you that added protein which is so important when you’re pregnant. So, ditch overeating the cookies and start eating these during pregnancy.
Steps for Making these Healthy Proetin Balls
- Add all ingredients to a mixer.
- Mixed until it comes together to form a ball. If it is still crumbling, then you could add a bit more peanut butter or honey.
- Roll into balls and then let chill in the refrigerator for 20 minutes
- Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator or freezer.
Other Add-Ins

How to Make Healthy Protein Balls
These healthy protein balls are easy and quick to make. Children love to help make these and they are a nice snack you can enjoy that will give you a bit of energy!
Ingredients
- 1 cup Old Fashioned Oats
- 1/2 cup Peanut Butter (or nut butter of choice)
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1 Tbs chia seeds
- 1/4 cup ground flaxseed
- 1/4 cup collagen powder (or protein powder of choice)
Instructions
- Add all ingredient to mixer.
- Mix together until fully incorperated and forms a balls. If it is still crumbling, you can add a bit more peanut butter or honey.
- Chill for 20 minutes.
- Form into approximately 14-16 balls.
- Store in a sealed bag or container in the refrigerator or freezer.
Notes
- You can use other types of nut butters in substitution for the peanut butter. I have used creamy peanut butter and natural peanut butter.
- Mini chocolate chips work really well in these balls
- You can use other protein powders in substitution for the collagen powder. Keep it the same amount and adjust the peanut butter or honey if it is too dry.
